At the start of the Year of the Dragon in 2024, the training session titled “Promoting Sustainable Fisheries Development: How to Seize New Opportunities in Short Video” successfully concluded in Taitouliu Village, Dongshi Town, Jinjiang, Quanzhou, Fujian Province.
The training brought together fishermen from fishing communities, providing a new blueprint for sustainable fisheries. Fishing communities and fishermen are the stewards of marine resources, and their understanding and actions directly impact the future of the industry. This training focused on frontline fishing communities, using short video content as a medium. Through case studies and hands-on practice, participants learned about short video platforms, the attention economy, and video content creation, sparking their intrinsic motivation and driving community transformation toward sustainable fisheries.
The training not only equipped fishermen with new skills but also deepened their understanding of consumers and markets, helping them explore new income streams and paths for transformation. Co-hosted by GoalBlue and Taitouliu Village in Dongshi Town, the initiative aimed to build a talent pool for the live-streaming industry, promote employment, and enhance skills, while also expanding income opportunities and supporting rural revitalization.
Over the two-day training, participants were introduced to the operating logic and strategies of popular short video platforms, as well as video content creation and production techniques. The curriculum combined theory with practice, allowing attendees to learn shooting techniques while participating in hands-on video production. During the opening ceremony, Liu Yongjin, Director of the Village Committee of Taitouliu Village, expressed strong support for fisheries development and shared the event’s vision. Ms. May Mei and Mr. Liu Wenli introduced the instructors and the significance of the training, encouraging participants to engage actively in learning and practicing video production, harnessing collective wisdom and strength to support the development of both the fisheries and the self-media industries.
The training was rich in content, and participants showed great enthusiasm, with detailed notes capturing valuable insights. Many attendees highlighted the importance of such training and expressed a desire for more similar opportunities in the future.
