Since the end of April 2022, GoalBlue, in collaboration with Shenzhen Midi Center, has hosted a series of charity concerts in Longgang, Shenzhen, centered around sustainability. These events, designed for music-loving youth and local citizens, were themed on sustainable development and low-carbon living. The series featured musical performances, autograph and photo sessions, interactive environmental knowledge sharing, and more. While enjoying a relaxing musical experience, the public also learned how to continuously practice green and sustainable living in their daily urban lives through fun and educational activities.
The ocean is Earth's largest ecosystem, providing oxygen, food, and livelihoods for all of us. It nurtures unimaginable biodiversity and directly supports human well-being by serving as a source of food and energy. Beyond being the source of life, the ocean also stabilizes the climate and stores carbon, acting as a massive greenhouse gas sink. According to the United Nations, approximately 680 million people live in low-lying coastal areas, a number expected to rise to 1 billion by 2050. However, ocean health is increasingly at risk due to acidification, pollution, illegal fishing, and the loss of habitats and biodiversity.
The latest Food Waste Index Report by the United Nations Environment Programme highlights that in 2019, an estimated 931 million tons of food were wasted globally by households, restaurants, and the food service and retail sectors. This waste accounted for 17% of all food available to consumers. Food loss and waste have significant environmental, social, and economic impacts. Studies show that greenhouse gas emissions related to food waste, when accounting for the entire food supply chain, represent 8-10% of global emissions.
As global climate challenges become more severe, China is emerging as a leader in climate governance. China has committed to peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, with its 14th Five-Year Plan prioritizing a green lifestyle transformation. Reducing food loss and waste, along with supporting sustainable fisheries, are often overlooked contributions to lowering greenhouse gas emissions. By reducing food waste and consuming sustainable seafood, people can save costs, embrace sustainability, and help combat climate change—contributions that every individual can make to protect the environment.
GoalBlue consistently advocates for a low-carbon lifestyle centered around "smart eating, balanced meals, zero food waste," and "protecting the ocean and supporting sustainable fisheries" to help reduce carbon emissions and address climate change. GoalBlue has frequently collaborated with Midi, targeting youth by integrating environmental education with popular culture and music, aiming to instill positive values. By bringing low-carbon, sustainable concepts and lifestyles into more people's lives, GoalBlue encourages everyone to be responsible consumers—for the planet and for themselves.
